Flight 23: The First Air Jordan Retail Sneaker Store opened its doors in New York
Last weekend, Jordan Brand officially opened its doors to the public of the first ever Air Jordan retail sneaker store in North America. The Grand opening of Flight 23 at Footaction was attended by members of the Jordan family and celebrity fans of the brand.
Not in Chicago, but in New York is where all the action is at. Representatives Larry Miller the president of Jordan Brand, Jake Jacobs CEO of Footaction, and director Spike Lee untied a pair of gigantic elephant printed shoelaces at the front of the store to officially open the doors to customers. Celebrities and Jordan Brand athletes Carmelo Anthony and Earl Thomas visited the store too for a quick peek of Flight 23.
The store is nicely decked in Jordan branding including a custom made “23” chandelier made of gold Jumpman logo and elephant printed walls. On its opening, Flight 23 brought some limited sneakers back that were released last year, including the Air Jordan 5 “Bel Air”.
Besides footwear, the Flight 23 shop also offers a wide assortment of Jordan apparel. Let’s hope the shop will release more stock of the retros in the future.
Hundreds of hardcore fans waited in line, in the freezing cold for days, to be part of the opening of the first Air Jordan retail shop. You can check the pictures of the store below.
This is a big move for Jordan Brand. With the popularity of the Air Jordan sneakers at a peak high and the successful opening of the Flight 23store, you can expect to see more shops open up across America or even the rest of the world in the future.
The Air Jordan store is located on West 34th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues, just one block from Madison Square Garden. Let us know if you plan to visit the store or if you have already done so. Tell us what you think of the store in the comment section below.
