Nike x Roundel by London Underground Air Max collection
This is an odd collaboration, but definitely worth checking out. Two icons, Nike’s Air Max shoes and London’s Underground railway, comes a collection of shoes with a unique style as a result. The Nike x Roundel by London Underground Air Max collection features two flashy new shoes.
The Nike x Roundel by London Underground sneakers feature Nike’s engineered woven Jacquard. The distinct upper is suppose to represent London’s unique and diverse city life. The geometric pattern (moquette) on these shoes are based on the seat upholstery found in the railway’s cars, made by designer Misha Black in 1978.
Both the Nike Air Max 90 and Nike Air Max 1 are made of the Jacquard weave, but built differently. The Nike AM1 has a black Swoosh and black laces. The Nike AM90 has white details and light brown laces.
Both shoes feature white midsoles, natural gum rubber outsoles and an embroidered tongue emblem of the famous London Underground logo. These limited-edition sneakers will come in custom packaging featuring the distinctive moquette pattern.
The sneakers are unique indeed with the busy pattern. What are your thoughts on these? Would you rock them?
The Nike x Roundel by London Underground Air Max collection release date is set at Dec. 14, 2013 at select Nike retailers.
